OVER 2025 Roadmap

OVER 2025 Roadmap

2025-02-05

Reflecting on 2024: Laying the Groundwork for Spatial Innovation

2024 was a pivotal year for OVER, marked by foundational advancements that solidified our position as a leader in spatial computing. Key achievements include:

  • Scaled map2earn Ecosystem: Through community-driven contributions, we generated over 100,000 high-quality 3D Maps, creating one of the most extensive decentralized geospatial databases in the world.
  • Unified AR/VR Experiences: By integrating Gaussian Splatting into OVRMaps, we pioneered remote AR—a seamless fusion of augmented and virtual reality. Users can now preview and interact with AR content remotely, blurring the lines between physical and digital spaces.
  • Creator Empowerment Tools:
    • Web Builder: Launched a brand new no-code, browser-based platform enabling creators to design and publish geo-located AR experiences without technical expertise.
    • Unity Visual Scripting SDK: Advanced AR development with the flexibility to choose between Unity’s native visual scripting tools or our custom implementation, empowering game studios and indie creators to build complex interactions for OVRLands.
  • Cross-Platform Accessibility: Eliminated app dependency by enabling AR content browsing directly from smartphones or desktops browsers.
  • Hardware Expansion: Integrated OVRMaps into Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest III, delivering pass-through mixed-reality experiences.
  • OVRLand Evolution: Introduced dual content categories—AR Local Experiences (anchored to physical locations) and VR Remote Contents (accessible globally)—empowering creators to build context-aware digital layers.

2025 Vision: Accelerating the DePIN Spatial Computing Revolution

From its early days in 2020, when OVER was born as an AR Metaverse Platform we’ve been transitioning to a full fledged DePIN Spatial Computing Platform that leverages its tech and 3D Maps database well beyond geo-localized AR.

We’re thrilled to announce that during 2025 we’re expanding our value propositions to capture value transcending Web3 and adding foundational features that will propel the OVER as a DePIN Spatial Computing Platform to a whole new level, here a breakdown of the headline features:

OVER Business: Bridging Web3 and Enterprise

  • Focus: Tailored tools for non-crypto-native enterprises, including digital marketing agencies, app/game developers, micro-mobility platforms, and industrial plant managers.
  • Value Proposition:
    • Monetization for OVRLand Owners: Businesses can license AR/VR experiences tied to specific locations, generating passive revenue for landowners and incentivizing participation in the DePIN ecosystem.
    • Fueling the DePIN Flywheel: Enterprise adoption will drive demand for 3D Maps and OVRLands, accelerating network effects. More mapped locations attract more users and businesses, creating a self-reinforcing cycle of growth. Revenues from B2B services will be re-injected inside OVER’s Web3 economy.
  • Use Cases:
    • Micro-mobility: VPS assisted ride-sharing parking.
    • Retail: Deploy location-based promotions or virtual showrooms.
    • Industrial: Monitor infrastructure via AR-powered digital twins.

OVER Large Geospatial Model (LGM): The AI Brain for Spatial Computing

  • Foundation: Trained on OVER’s proprietary database of 100,000+ ultra-detailed 3D Maps, the LGM will set new standards for geospatial AI.
  • Capabilities:
    • Re-localization: Simplify mapping workflows by processing unstructured image data (e.g., crowdsourced photos from platforms like Mapillary).
    • Machine Perception: Enable robots, drones, and autonomous systems to interpret environments, navigate obstacles, and interact with physical spaces.
  • Impact: The LGM will democratize high-precision spatial intelligence, reducing reliance on costly LiDAR scans for basic mapping tasks.

OVER Machine Perception: Building the Machine Economy

  • Infrastructure: Combine the LGM with Visual Positioning Systems (VPS) to create a universal framework for machine-environment interaction.
  • Applications:
    • Autonomous Navigation: Equip machines with real-time spatial awareness for warehouses, factories, and public spaces.
    • Automated Mapping: Deploy AI-powered robots to update 3D Maps using fused LiDAR, RGB, and sensor data—scaling global coverage exponentially.

Private VPS: Privacy by Design

  • Technology: Utilize patent pending technology to encrypt visual data during VPS re-localization.
  • Benefits:
    • Zero-Trust Privacy: Users retain full ownership of camera feeds; even OVER cannot access raw data.
    • Low-Latency AR: Maintain sub-millisecond response times for enterprise-grade AR applications.

Enhancing Creator and User Experiences. Expanding its geo-localized AR publishing and browsing capabilities:

Smart Glasses Integration

  • 2025 Goal: Deliver full AR/VPS support for Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest III, and emerging smart glasses brands.
  • Vision: Enable hands-free, context-aware AR for field technicians, tourists, and gamers via lightweight wearables.

AR AI Avatars

  • Next-Gen Interaction: Create lifelike, intelligent avatars powered by LLMs and agentic frameworks like Virtuals and UOMI.
    • Customization: Define appearance, behavior, knowledge base, and personal backstory.
    • Applications:
      • Virtual Companions: Deploy AI guides for tourism, education, or entertainment.
      • Sales Assistants: Train avatars to answer customer queries in AR showrooms.
      • Game NPCs: Populate OVRLands with dynamic, responsive characters.

Project Trinity: Unifying Physical and Digital Realities

  • Breakthrough: Introduce a shared state protocol between AR and VR environments.
    • Users physically present at a mapped location can interact in real time with avatars of remote users exploring the same space via its digital twin.
    • Positional coherence ensures avatars align precisely with their real-world or virtual coordinates.
  • Impact: Revolutionize remote collaboration, gaming, and live events with hybrid AR/VR experiences.

Marker-Anchored AR Content

  • Flexibility: Trigger multiple AR experiences using any image as a marker—logos, artwork, signage, or even natural features— far beyond QR code activations.
  • Use Cases:
    • Museums: Augment exhibits with contextual AR storytelling.
    • Retail: Attach virtual menus or product demos to branded materials.
    • Events: Link AR scavenger hunts to physical landmarks.

AI 3D Asset Creation

  • Toolkit: Integrate state of the art text-to-mesh and voice-to-3D generative AI models, allowing creators to instantly materialize objects like signage, furniture, or characters.
  • Workflow: Assets can be seamlessly published on OVERlands using the Live Editor the Web Builder or the Unity SDK.

In-App Live Editor

On-the-Fly Creation: Publish precisely positioned AR experiences directly from the OVER app using an intuitive drag-and-drop interface.

  • Drag 3D assets, NFTs, or Sketchfab models into your OVRLand and adjust their placement in real time.
  • Symbiosis with AI: Seamlessly integrate AI-generated 3D assets (via text/voice) into your scenes.

Persistent Multiplayer AR

  • Innovation: Introduce real-time synchronization and historical persistence for AR experiences.
    • Changes made by one user (e.g., moving a virtual object) are instantly visible to others.
    • Environments retain a “memory” of interactions, enabling time-capsule experiences or recurring AR games.

Expanding Geospatial Tools

  • OVRMap Merge: Combine adjacent maps into seamless digital twins for stadiums, malls, or city blocks.
  • Super Splat Editor: Refine Gaussian Splatting maps with granular control over textures, lighting, and object placement thanks to the integration of Super Splat Editor.

There is a lot to unpack here… This roadmap is a testament to OVER’s commitment to decentralizing spatial computing. Many features are already in advanced development, with phased rollouts starting Q1 2025. Stay tuned for the upcoming announcements!
