OVER joins OMA3™

The membership aims to advance the development of the user-owned metaverse
OVER is pleased to announce its membership of OMA3™.
OMA3, which stands for Open Metaverse Alliance, is a collaboration of Web3 metaverse platform creators, which aims to ensure that virtual land, digital assets, ideas, and services are highly interoperable between platforms and transparent to all communities.
The keywords: Interoperability and cooperation
Our own work with interoperability became evident well over a year ago at NFC Lisbon, with the addition of characters from The Sandbox to the OVER digital layer. And at this year’s Metaverse Fashion Week, OVER and Decentraland creators participated in a cross-metaverse design competition, with winning wearables produced for both platforms and celebrated at an augmented reality fashion show in the center of Milan.
“For OVER, joining OMA3 is a real honor and the obvious next step in our efforts to bring interoperability to the decentralized metaverse,” said COO and co-founder Diego Di Tommaso. “To collaborate more closely with these fantastic organizations is a huge opportunity and we look forward to shaping the future alongside them all.”
A shared future of compatible goals
OMA3 was launched, on 1st November, by a group of Web3 dedicated companies, to create standards for an interconnected digital world.
The decision to join OMA3 derives from sharing compatible goals, not only with OMA3 but with renowned Web3 entities such as The Sandbox, Decentraland, Lumina1, and Alien Worlds among others. These goals include:
- Community run, decentralized and indexable metaverse
- User ownership and use of digital assets (e.g. NFTs), identity, and personal data in a frictionless way across multiple platforms
- Assets controlled by users, not platform owners
- Ideas and services based on the foundation of decentralization and interoperability to optimize for individual freedom, social, economic and other sustainable outcomes
“The interoperability of content in Web3 is one of the key pillars of building the open metaverse,” said Robby Yung, CEO of Animoca Brands and Vice Chair of OMA3. “And achieving that goal is not easy, but one we at OMA3 believe should be community led, and so we are very pleased to welcome OVER as a new member and look forward to working together.”
The organization is divided into Asset Transfer, Ecosystem, NFT, Portaling and Mapping and Tokens working groups in which OVER will actively participate.
But our efforts do not stop there; our goal is to continue to seek other opportunities for interoperability particularly through our new open source AI program to be launched later this year.
